Concern is growing over the whereabouts of Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tuface, as his family has officially declared him missing and raised fears of a possible abduction.
In a petition submitted to the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) by their legal representatives, Anuge, Anuge & Co, the Idibia family disclosed that the legendary singer was last seen in the early hours of Monday, February 10, 2025.
“We are writing to urgently seek your assistance regarding a profoundly troubling situation involving a member of the Idibia family, Mr. Innocent Idibia (also known as Tuface or 2Baba), who has been missing since Monday,” the petition read.
The family revealed that Tuface left his residence that morning in casual loungewear, presumably for his routine walk, but never returned. Multiple attempts by his family, friends, and record label to contact him have been unsuccessful, heightening concerns about his safety.
Adding to the mystery, the family noted that, as a celebrity, Tuface is usually accompanied by security personnel whenever he goes out. However, on the day he disappeared, he left home unaccompanied.
“This disturbing discovery and the fact that those who ought to hear from him have not heard from him for over 72 hours have left his entire family deeply concerned,” the petition stated.
Further raising fears of foul play, the family disclosed that Tuface’s associates had received suspicious messages from his social media accounts requesting financial assistance—an unusual move for the financially stable singer.
“These messages are alarming, as Mr. Innocent is financially independent and has never required assistance in such a manner. This has led his family to suspect that his identity may have been compromised and that someone may have abducted him and is actively manipulating him to exploit his contacts for monetary gain,” the petition read.
The situation has taken an even more dramatic turn following public remarks by Tuface’s mother, Rose Idibia, who implored Natasha Osawaru, the 31-year-old Edo lawmaker, to "free her son" shortly after he publicly proposed to her.
“He’s clearly not in his right senses now. I know my son. This is not him,” the distressed mother said.
The development comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the singer’s separation from his wife, actress Annie Macaulay.
As the nation awaits updates, the Idibia family has urged the DSS to intervene swiftly to unravel the mystery behind Tuface’s sudden disappearance and ensure his safe return.
