The solemn tribute was led by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, following Hon. Whingan’s formal announcement of Chief Ajose’s demise. The late statesman, who passed away on January 15, 2025, was a former Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Government and a highly respected figure in both political and community spheres.
Speaking on the loss, Hon. Whingan described Chief Ajose as a “respected leader, community icon, and national treasure,” highlighting his immense contributions to governance and grassroots development in Lagos State.
The House's moment of silence reflected the deep respect and recognition accorded to Chief Ajose's legacy, as lawmakers paid their last respects to a man who played a crucial role in shaping the political landscape of Lagos and Nigeria at large.
As tributes continue to pour in from across the country, the late Chief Akinsanya Sunny Ajose's impact on governance and public service remains undeniable.

The burial ceremony for the late APC stalwart, Dr. Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, began yesterday with his remains brought to Badagry, marking the beginning of a solemn four-day funeral ceremony in his honor.
The funeral procession commenced at his family compound in Boekoh Quarters, where relatives, friends, and members of the community gathered to celebrate his life and pay their final respects to the revered statesman. The atmosphere was filled with solemnity as mourners reflected on his impactful legacy..
From Boekoh Quarters, the procession moved to his residence at Ajara Agamathen, a site of great political significance where Dr. Ajose once held crucial meetings and made decisions that shaped the political landscape. A large crowd of well-wishers and community members lined the streets, underscoring the deep respect and admiration he commanded throughout his lifetime.
The journey continued to the Badagry Local Government Secretariat, where his remains lay in state. Dignitaries, APC stalwarts, serving and past public office holders, members of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), the National Youth Council of Nigeria, traditional rulers, clerics, and trade associations gathered to honor and pay their final tributes.
The ceremony will continue today with the presentation of his posthumous biography at Adeyemi Bero Hall, Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja. The ceremony will span until 8th February 2025.
