In a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele declared that President Bola Tinubu remains too formidable for any single candidate to unseat, including Obi. He warned that any attempt to challenge Tinubu without broad political alliances would amount to a waste of resources and could lead to Obi’s political downfall.
“If Peter Obi believes he has the magic wand to mobilize support, he is mistaken. Contesting alone against Tinubu will be futile. He should either join a coalition or stay out of the race entirely to avoid political misery,” Ayodele stated.
The cleric further asserted that Obi is being misled by those around him and risks facing betrayal, even from his own political base.
“If you think you can stand alone and defeat Tinubu, you are joking. Many of those around you are deceiving you. Even the Igbos won’t rally behind you this time. Those you trust will disappoint you,” he warned.
Primate Ayodele’s remarks come amid early political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, raising questions about Obi’s next political move.
