As construction progresses, key stakeholders have lauded the administration’s vision, emphasizing the project’s impact on trade, security, and regional development.
During a site inspection in Janzomo village, near Birnin Kebbi, Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, reaffirmed President Tinubu’s resolve to complete the highway, describing it as a milestone in Nigeria’s infrastructural evolution.
“Kebbi State hosts the longest stretch of this project, covering 258 kilometers. This is not just a road; it is a Legacy Project that will stand as a testament to President Tinubu’s leadership,” Umahi stated.
Senator Atiku Bagudu, Minister for Budget and Economic Planning, echoed similar sentiments, commending Tinubu for prioritizing infrastructure development and ensuring the completion of inherited projects.
“President Tinubu has made it clear—no project will be abandoned. His approach is innovative, focused on funding solutions rather than excuses,” Bagudu noted.
The highway, which spans from Sokoto to Badagry, is expected to redefine transportation and trade corridors in Nigeria. The contracting firm, HITECH, has deployed state-of-the-art equipment to fast-track construction, with 35 kilometers of site clearance already completed. Additionally, compensation payments to affected communities are set to commence, ensuring smooth execution.
As the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway takes shape, it stands as a monumental infrastructure project that cements President Tinubu’s legacy, linking Nigeria’s northernmost regions to its coastal trade hub.
