In a press statement released by his media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari reiterated his unwavering loyalty to the APC, emphasizing that he remains a dedicated member.
“I am an APC member, and I like to be addressed as such. I will try to popularize the party by all means,” Buhari stated, making it clear that his allegiance to the party remains intact.
The former president expressed deep gratitude for the support he received from the APC before and during his two-term presidency. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the party’s founding fathers in establishing a strong political platform dedicated to upholding democracy and constitutional governance.
While Buhari did not directly reference El-Rufai or his claim, his statement appears to counter any suggestion that he endorsed the former governor’s decision to join the SDP. Instead, Buhari reaffirmed that he remains committed to strengthening the APC.
This development adds a new twist to the ongoing political discourse within the ruling party, as internal disagreements and realignments continue ahead of future elections.
