The training, facilitated by the Centre for Management Development in collaboration with Stonemill Nigeria Limited, underscores Hon. Whingan’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity in the region. Upon completion of the program on March 22, each trainee will receive essential farming tools and startup capital to boost their agribusinesses.
Declaring the event open, Hon. Whingan, represented by Chief S.S. Pot-Balogun, Chairman of the Sesi Whingan Campaign Organization, urged participants to seize the opportunity to refine their skills and improve their yields. He emphasized the strategic role of agriculture in tackling food insecurity and driving economic growth, calling on farmers to apply the knowledge and resources provided to enhance agricultural output in Badagry and beyond.
The training attracted prominent figures, including Hon. Prince Wale Adesina, Chairman of the Sesi Whingan Foundation, who anchored the program; Chief Ade Agoro, a notable APC leader in Badagry West and one of the trainees; Chief Joshua Avigbe; and Hon. Hassan Mihode Hammed, a key aspirant in the upcoming Badagry Local Government Chairmanship election.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ife Anthony, Business Development Manager of Stonemill Nigeria Ltd, commended Hon. Whingan’s proactive approach to grassroots development. He noted the lawmaker’s relentless efforts in attracting impactful agricultural initiatives to Badagry, ensuring that local farmers benefit from federal and private sector-driven programs.
Farmers from across Badagry Local Government, Olorunda, and Badagry West Local Council Development Area are participating in the training. The first day featured an interactive session on crop and vegetable production, led by Mr. Emeka Christian from Voice of Farmers. Participants engaged in discussions on modern farming techniques and solutions to long-standing agricultural challenges.
Similarly, aquaculture expert Mr. Tunde Adeniyi introduced trainees to innovative fish farming methods, with a more detailed practical session scheduled for the second day.
Hon. Whingan’s agricultural empowerment initiatives have been consistent. In 2024 alone, he facilitated the distribution of over 600 bags of fertilizer to farmers through two separate empowerment programs aimed at boosting food production.
The program will conclude on March 22 with the official distribution of farming tools and startup capital, further reinforcing Hon. Whingan’s unwavering support for agricultural sustainability in Badagry.
