The donation was officially received on Tuesday at the Lagos State House in Alausa, Ikeja, where Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat led the handover ceremony, accompanied by key members of the State Executive Council.
Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, confirmed the development in a social media post, emphasizing the impact of the initiative.
“This morning was indeed significant as I joined the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and other State Executive Members to receive 80,000 bags of 10kg rice from the Aliko Dangote Foundation as part of their 2025 Food Intervention Programme,” Ogunlende wrote.
He noted that the rice was officially handed over to the Deputy Governor, along with representatives from LGAs and LCDAs, ensuring efficient distribution to those in need, including vulnerable communities in remote areas.
The donation comes as part of the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s broader mission to support food security efforts in Nigeria, reinforcing private sector contributions to social welfare in the country.
Residents across Lagos have welcomed the intervention, which is expected to provide much-needed relief amid rising food prices and economic challenges.
