Ogunbode was declared missing on January 16 after informing his girlfriend that he was heading to church. When he failed to return, she insisted that his last known location was the church, prompting an investigation.
Initially, Prophet Babaniyah reportedly denied any knowledge of Ogunbode’s whereabouts, claiming the victim had never arrived at the church. However, sources indicate that investigators later uncovered financial transactions linking the pastor to the case. A sum of ₦1.5 million was allegedly transferred from Ogunbode’s account to the pastor’s, with another payment reportedly made to the pastor’s son.
Further developments led to the arrest of additional suspects, one of whom allegedly confessed to Ogunbode’s killing, revealing that parts of his body had been harvested for ritual purposes. His remaining body parts were said to have been buried within the church premises at CCC Ileri Oluwa Parish, located in the LASU 2, PPL Ojo area of Lagos.
During a search of the premises, authorities reportedly recovered weapons, including firearms, axes, and cutlasses, raising suspicions of broader criminal activities. While the police have yet to issue an official statement, sources confirm that investigations are ongoing.
