Ajisomo, previously rumored to have fled to the Benin Republic, was apprehended in the Alakuko area of Lagos on Monday morning. His arrest led police detectives to the site where Ogunbode’s body was concealed, report by Punch says
Confirming the breakthrough, the Punch reported that the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that officers were already on their way to exhume the remains of the slain graduate.

The 2024 Political Science Education graduate had been missing since January 16, 2025, amid reports that his mutilated body had been discovered. The case took a new turn last Friday when police confirmed the arrest of three suspects and intensified efforts to track down five others linked to the gruesome murder.
Among those arrested was a pastor, Whepetoji Sunday, accused of receiving N70,000 from the victim’s account, and a church member, Sheriff Adebayo, who allegedly got N300,000. Investigators also apprehended Omolara Ajisomo, the prime suspect’s mother, for allegedly aiding her children, Olaoluwa and Teniola, in fleeing after each reportedly received N300,000 from Ogunbode’s account.
In response to mounting pressure, including threats of a statewide protest by the students’ union, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.
Providing further details, Hundeyin disclosed that the prime suspect was responsible for draining Ogunbode’s bank account using the victim’s phone.
“The principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, was arrested yesterday (Monday) morning at the Alakuko area. He was the one who cleared the victim’s bank account through the victim’s mobile phone,” Hundeyin said.
Contrary to social media speculation, Hundeyin clarified that the grave was not located within the premises of the church where the arrested cleric worshipped. However, police have sealed the church following intelligence reports of a possible arson attempt by enraged community members.
“The shallow grave is not around the church premises, but it is within the community. The church was sealed off after we received reports that some people planned to burn it down in retaliation, and we do not want that to happen,” he added.
A police source confirmed to PUNCH Metro that detectives were en route to retrieve Ogunbode’s remains following the suspect’s confession.
“I just received information that the newly arrested suspect has confessed to killing the LASU graduate, and the police are on their way to the burial site,” the source revealed.
When contacted for official confirmation, Hundeyin responded with a single word: “Confirmed.”
This latest development brings renewed hope for justice as authorities continue their investigation into the brutal murder that has sent shockwaves across the state.
