Speaking during a recent interaction with journalists at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State, Babangida pointed to President Tinubu’s unmatched political resilience and strategic governance style as major factors that could secure him another term in office.
“There is a strong possibility that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure re-election come the year 2027,” the elder statesman declared, citing the President’s ability to navigate complex political terrain and maintain stability even under intense pressure.
According to the former Head of State, Tinubu’s reputation as a master strategist in Nigerian politics is a rare quality that continues to endear him to both political allies and the general public.
“Even when confronted with sharp criticisms, economic challenges, and significant opposition, he stays the course. That kind of perseverance resonates with Nigerians,” he added.
Babangida also addressed concerns surrounding the country’s current economic reforms, acknowledging that while the policies have caused some hardship, they are necessary adjustments aimed at long-term national growth.
“I’ve seen governments in the past make difficult decisions that were later celebrated. I believe with patience, Nigerians will come to appreciate the direction this administration is taking,” he said.
With these remarks, Babangida joins a growing list of prominent voices expressing confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and his chances of winning re-election in 2027.
