The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced nomination fees for aspirants contesting in the upcoming local government elections across the state.
Under the new guidelines, aspirants seeking chairmanship positions will pay N5 million, while those contesting for councillorship seats are to pay N1 million. An additional administrative charge of N500,000 applies to all categories.
In a bid to foster inclusivity and broaden participation, especially among marginalized groups, the party has introduced a 50% discount on nomination fees for youth and female aspirants. This adjustment brings the chairmanship fee for eligible women and youths to N2.5 million, while councillorship aspirants in the same category will pay N500,000—excluding the administrative charge.
All prospective candidates are required to present evidence of payment, including stamped receipts, before nomination forms can be collected.
The elections will be conducted across all 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos. Political activities are expected to intensify in the coming weeks, with both veteran politicians and fresh contenders gearing up for the race.
