A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of a 23-year-old man, Emmanuel Egbunu, at the Awarjigoh Correctional Centre over the alleged defilement of an 11-year-old girl.
Presiding over the case on Thursday, Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya issued the remand order after Egbunu pleaded not guilty to charges of defilement and sexual assault. The magistrate also directed that the case file be forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The case was adjourned until June 3, 2025, for the ruling on the defendant’s bail application and for the DPP’s advisory.
According to the police prosecutor, ASP Ayodele Adeosun, the alleged offence occurred on April 20, 2025, around 11:00 p.m. at Alhaja House, near Deeper Life Junction, along Ansarudeen Road, Badagry.
