According to Meta, the change is necessary to ensure the platform remains efficient and secure, particularly as older operating systems can no longer support newer features or safeguard user data effectively.
Apple Devices Losing Access
WhatsApp will now require iOS 15.1 or later. The following iPhone models will no longer be supported, as they cannot be updated beyond iOS 12.5.7:

iPhone 6 Plus
As of January 1, 2025, WhatsApp had already dropped support for Android devices running version 4.4 (KitKat) or earlier. Many of these devices can’t be updated beyond that version and will permanently lose access.

Anyone still using these models is encouraged to upgrade to a newer smartphone to continue using WhatsApp without interruptions. The app will no longer function on unsupported devices after the deadline.
