Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 16-year-old boy for unlawful possession of a firearm in the Ebute-Ero area of Lagos.
Confirming the incident on Sunday via his verified X handle @benHundeyin, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the minor was apprehended after concerned residents discreetly alerted officers at the Ebute-Ero Police Division.
“Observant Lagosians noticed a 16-year-old in possession of a firearm and promptly informed the police. Officers responded swiftly, searched the boy’s residence, and recovered a locally fabricated pistol along with an unexpended cartridge," Hundeyin stated.
He commended the vigilance of the community, noting that the prompt action led to another firearm being removed from circulation. Hundeyin also stressed the importance of public cooperation with security agencies, urging residents to “say something when you see something.”
He added that investigation into the matter is ongoing.
