In what many have described as a defining moment for the future of Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA),  Princess Oluremi Fumilola Nutayi Ajose has declared her intention to contest for the chairmanship seat, heralding a new era of hope, equity, and grassroots-driven governance.

Declaring her ambition over the weekend, Princess Oluremi paid a significant visit to the palace of the Alapa of Apa Ègún Awori Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Oyekan Adekanmi Ajose, the Ilufemiloye Possi III. The visit turned into a powerful show of unity and support, as the monarch, alongside traditional rulers, political leaders, and community stakeholders, offered their blessings and declared their full endorsement of her candidacy.

“It’s a new dawn for Badagry West,” Princess Oluremi proclaimed. “Our people are yearning for inclusive leadership, and I am stepping forward as a competent daughter of the soil, ready to serve with integrity, compassion, and vision.”

The royal father, Oba Oyinloye, did not mince words in backing her bid. “She is not only my daughter but a worthy ambassador of our culture and values,” he said. “Her time has come, and I call on all Baales and traditional leaders to rally behind her.”

Chief Gbemenu, Baale of Agonrin and Chairman of the Baales in Council, echoed the monarch’s sentiment, affirming that the entire traditional institution stands firmly behind Princess Oluremi. “Her track record and humility speak volumes. We are united in our support.”

In a passionate call for equity, Princess Oluremi highlighted the political imbalance in chairmanship representation across Badagry West’s wards. “Wards A, B, and D have taken their turns. It’s time for Wards C and E to be represented. This is about fairness and progress,” she declared.

Prominent APC leaders also lined up to endorse her ambition. Hon. Peter Atindekun described her as “a humble leader with a progressive vision,” while APC apex leader in Badagry West, Hon. Ade Agoro, said her candidacy reflects the call for balance and justice within the council’s political structure. “This is the moment to support a capable leader from an underserved ward,” he added.

The event drew a powerful presence of political stakeholders including Hon. Rabiu Ayodele, Hon. Joshua Aihongbe, Hon. Senayon Kuwakanu (APC Women Leader), and Hon. Segun Abayomi Oke, who offered a vote of thanks after traditional prayers were rendered.

Armed with academic credentials in Political Science from the University of Uyo and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from LAUTECH, Princess Oluremi pledged to run an open, accessible, and people-centered administration. “No one will be left behind,” she vowed. “We will usher in a government that listens, delivers, and restores public trust.”

With a groundswell of traditional and political endorsement, Princess Oluremi’s declaration is not just a campaign launch — it is a rallying call for a brighter, more inclusive future. For Badagry West LCDA, indeed, it is a new dawn.
