The decision was taken during plenary on Thursday, presided over by Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, following a matter of urgent public importance raised by Hon. Oladipo Ajomale, Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary and LASIEC.
Raising the alarm, Ajomale expressed concerns that the guidelines earlier issued by LASIEC for the elections were vague, lacking critical details required for both public awareness and effective legislative oversight. He therefore called for the immediate invitation of the commission’s leadership to shed more light on their processes and ensure transparency ahead of the polls.
Lending their voices to the motion, several lawmakers including Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Adedamola Kasunmu, Hon. Owolabi Ajani, Hon. Kehinde Joseph, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, and Hon. Bonu Solomon strongly backed the call for clarity. They emphasized the need for LASIEC to properly brief the House and the general public to avoid any ambiguity that could undermine the credibility of the elections.
