The endorsement event, held beside the Gbaji mini-stadium, was presided over by Chief Ade Agoro Joseph, an influential APC leader in the area, and witnessed by a wide array of party stalwarts from all five wards. The five councillorship candidates endorsed are: Okedare Moses (Ward A), Avoseh J.S. (Ward B), Hoteyin Monday (Ward C), Todayi Sunday (Ward D), and Ayeni Idris (Ward E).
In a communiqué jointly signed by traditional rulers and political leaders, stakeholders formalized a rotational agreement for the chairmanship of the LCDA. According to the agreement, Ward C (Apa Ward) will produce the next chairman, while Ward E (Seme Ward) will produce the vice chairman in the upcoming administration. Significantly, the communiqué further stipulates that after the completion of an eight-year tenure by the Ward C chairman, the chairmanship slot will rotate to Ward E.
The landmark agreement was endorsed and signed by key traditional rulers, including **His Royal Majesty Oba Sejiro Olalekan James**, the Aholu of Kweme Kingdom, and **HRM Oba Oyekan Adekanmi Ilufemiloye Ajose Posii III**, the Alapa of Apa Egun Awori Kingdom. All the endorsed aspirants, including Princess Oluremi, have reportedly obtained their APC nomination forms.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Ade Agoro Joseph emphasized that the decision was rooted in the principles of fairness, equity, and justice. He noted that while Wards A, B, and D have previously produced chairmen since the council’s creation, Wards C and E have yet to enjoy such representation. He described the endorsement of Princess Oluremi from Ward C as a step towards correcting this imbalance and urged massive support for her candidacy in the forthcoming APC primary elections.
"Princess Oluremi emerged as the consensus candidate not only because of the need for equity but also due to her widespread acceptance, proven competence, and leadership capacity," Agoro stated.
In her acceptance speech, Princess Oluremi expressed deep appreciation to the leaders for their trust and confidence. She pledged to prioritize inclusive governance and ensure visible development across all five wards if elected.
“I am humbled by this endorsement and promise to serve with diligence and integrity. Together, we can elevate Badagry West LCDA through unity and focused leadership,” she said, calling for cooperation from all stakeholders and interest groups within the council.
The high-profile event was attended by a distinguished lineup of political figures including Alh. Bashiru Yusuf, Hon. Peter Atindekun, Hon. Mutairu Yusuf, Chief Ibidun Joshua, Prince Moses Yeniiyo, Hon. Zofun Nathaniel, Hon. Athongbe Joshua, Hon. Adeniran Cosmas, Hon. Muyiwa Athongbe, Hon. Johnson Hunpatin, Chief Akotoyon Issac, Hon. Ade Zokro Joseph, Hon. Kuwodo Moses, Mrs. Simeon, and Hon. Mathias Kuton, among others.
The endorsement program was well attended by party members, leaders, and supporters. Notably and conspicuously absent from the event were the incumbent Chairman of Badagry Local Government Area, Hon. Gbenu Henugbe; Hon. Bamgbose Hontonyon Joseph, an apex leader; and several other high-profile political leaders in Badagry West. Further findings by Badagry Today revealed that their absence may be due to their support for the incumbent Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Rauf Ibrahim Kayode Yemaren, popularly known as Rikay, who is also contesting for the chairmanship from Ward A—the same ward that previously produced the council chairman.
The endorsement and the signed rotational agreement are widely seen as a strategic move by the APC in Badagry West to foster internal cohesion and position the party for a united and formidable showing at the polls.
Meanwhile, prominent among the leaders at the endorsement event was Hon. Dansu Omotayo Dominic, a former APC LGA Chairman for Badagry West and a chairmanship aspirant himself. In a surprising twist, reports have it that Hon. Dansu Dominic proceeded to procure his own nomination form shortly after the endorsement of Princess Oluremi, despite his attendance and initial participation in the endorsement event. This move has raised questions among observers, with many seeing it as a contradiction of the agreement he helped broker and support.
