In a significant show of traditional solidarity ahead of the forthcoming local government elections, the Aholu of Kweme Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Sejiro Olalekan James, has revealed the reasons behind the unanimous endorsement of Princess Oluremi Nutayi Ajose by all royal fathers in Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

Speaking from his palace on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, during the official declaration visit of Princess Oluremi, Oba Sejiro stated unequivocally that the decision of the royal fathers to endorse her candidacy was guided by a collective commitment to fairness, equity, and justice.

Princess Oluremi, a distinguished daughter of the revered King, HRM Oba Oyekan Adekanmi Ilufemiloye Ajose Posii III, Alapa of Apa Egun Awori Kingdom, is contesting the Chairmanship seat of Badagry West LCDA under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Aholu explained that since the creation of the council, Wards A, B, and D have each produced the LCDA chairman, leaving Wards C (Apa Ward) and E (Seme Ward) without such representation. According to him, while Ward E has been considered for the Vice Chairmanship slot, it is only just and equitable that Ward C produces the next chairman — a position Princess Oluremi seeks.

"My endorsement and that of other royal fathers is not personal. It is rooted in justice and fairness. I have even told my own sister, who is also a Princess in this kingdom, why I cannot support her ambition. Remi is our daughter, and though she was initially reluctant to join the race, we—royal fathers and community leaders—encouraged her to step forward because we believe in her capacity, character, and dedication to public service,” Oba Sejiro said.

Declaring full royal backing, he added, “To us, Princess Oluremi is no longer just an aspirant. She is the consensus candidate of the APC for Badagry West LCDA. Our minds are made up.”

The monarch concluded the royal visit by giving his blessings and directing the chief priest of Kweme Kingdom to perform traditional rites in support of the Princess’s ambition.

The palace event drew a large crowd of supporters, including prominent APC leaders and chieftains from Apa Ward. Among the notable figures in attendance were Chief Ade Agoro, a respected APC apex leader in Badagry West LCDA; Mr. Peter Atindekun, Princess Oluremi’s Campaign Director General; Hon. Cosmos Adeniran, the current Councillor representing Apa Ward; and Hon. Shedrack Awhansu, a former principal lawmaker in the LCDA.

Following the visit to the Kweme palace, the delegation returned to the Palace of the Oba of Apa, Princess Oluremi’s father. In a rare moment of emotion and sincerity, the monarch revealed that he initially opposed his daughter’s political ambition, but had to concede when the endorsement from fellow royal fathers and key political stakeholders became overwhelming.

“This was not her decision or mine,” the Oba of Apa said. “But when respected elders, leaders, and traditional rulers speak with one voice, it is only wise to listen. I thank everyone for the unflinching support being extended to my daughter.”

With this powerful royal consensus, Princess Oluremi Ajose’s ambition now bears the unmistakable weight of tradition, unity, and justice — setting the tone for a new chapter in Badagry West leadership.
