Hon. Ogunlende, who hails from Badagry, explained that the retreat was part of his commitment to a promise he made during the 2023 general elections when he campaigned for the House of Representatives seat for Badagry Federal Constituency.
Reflecting on the event in a Facebook post, Ogunlende wrote:
"I am delighted to have finally fulfilled a promise I made two years ago to my 20 Apex Women Leaders in Badagry. During my campaign for the House of Representatives, I met with these incredible women and promised them a retreat outside Badagry where we could unwind and bond.
Today, that promise has become a reality, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Spending time with these remarkable women — who are pillars of our APC family in Badagry — was both inspiring and heartwarming. Their dedication to promoting gender equality and advancing our community is something I deeply respect.
The day was made even more special by the presence of distinguished guests, including Mrs. Oreoluwa Finnih (SA on SDGs), Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare (SA on Housing), Mrs. Bola Olumegbon (SA on CBD), and the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, whose words of encouragement and recognition for these women's steadfast commitment truly uplifted everyone.
It was a beautiful moment to relax, connect, and celebrate the strength of our bond outside the shores of Badagry."
The retreat offered the women leaders a refreshing opportunity to recharge and deepen their camaraderie, while reaffirming their shared commitment to the development of Badagry and the advancement of women in politics.
