Why I Joined Celestial Church – Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Reveals, Refuses to Apologize Over "Ganusi"

Legendary Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has opened up on his spiritual journey, declaring himself a proud and dedicated member of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC).

In a pre-recorded interview with Agbaletu TV, the Fuji icon explained that his decision to join the white-garment church stemmed from a personal quest to find God — a journey that took him through both Islam and Christianity.

“I attend Celestial Church. I am a bonafide member of the Celestial Church, a proud one. In fact, I built a church. I sought different religions while trying to know God. There’s nowhere I didn’t try to find God,” he said.

Despite being a Muslim by birth, K1 emphasized that his affiliation with CCC was not a contradiction, but rather a reflection of his deep spiritual pursuit. The CCC, founded by the late Samuel Oshoffa, is known for its unique white garments and strict worship customs, including the removal of shoes within church premises.

K1’s declaration comes amid public backlash over his use of the word “Ganusi” in a viral video, where he made remarks perceived as dismissive towards Islamic clerics (alfas), suggesting some only attend ceremonies for financial gains. The video, recorded in the build-up to his mother’s burial, sparked outrage among Muslim scholars and followers who demanded an apology.

However, K1 has remained defiant, insisting that his words were misinterpreted and that he sees no reason to apologise. “I’ve said nothing wrong,” he affirmed, standing by his statement and dismissing the controversy.

With his latest comments, K1 has once again shown his unapologetic approach to both faith and expression — embracing his spiritual truth while refusing to bow to public pressure.
